Travel Gift Guide #3 - for travelers
Hi!
Today, we'll talk about the...
GoTenna
GoTenna is an ingenius solution for communication problems in foreign countries. During many of my travels, I find it impossible to reach my fellow travelers via phone as I do not have data there i.e. China. GoTenna is a radio signal attachment to smartphones that let you text and share locations with others with the GoTenna over a distance of 4 miles!
GoTenna is extremely useful for locating others in busy markets, like Myeongdong in SK, or for messaging friends in other hotel rooms.
Thanks

Best Travel Tips for Families with Children with Alex Pt.1
Hi!
Here are the Best Travel Tips for Families with Children!
1. Give Them a Camera! This will keep your kids busy on hikes, car rides, etc. Make sure it is very durable and has a protective case. i.e GoPro
2. Bring Tablets and Battery Packs. On long rides, or lulls in the excitement, a tablet loaded with games can be a life-saver from "Mommy, are we there yet?" or "I'm bored. I wanna go home"!
3. Have them write travel journals which make for a great, inexpensive keepsake, in which they can write and draw things they've encountered, such as local foods, (which might encourage them to try them).
4. Get a Tracking Device for your kid. With these nifty gadgets, you can access their locations via smartphone or computer.
5. Get your kids a dog tag with contact info/ write it on their arms, in case they get lost

Top Ten Travel Mistakes- DO's AND DONT's with Alex- Travel Tips Tricks and Hacks
Hi!
Here are the Top Ten Most Common Travel Mistakes!
1. Overpacking. While underpacking is bad, overpacking means there is more to lug around, less mobility, higher baggage fees, and more to rummage through every time you're looking for pair of socks.
2, Forgetting to Get Local Money- especially in developing countries, many places don't accept credit cards.
3. Not Buying Travel Insurance- in case something goes wrong- work, medical, etc
4. Check VISA requirements. Once, on my trip to SK, I forgot to apply for a Visa. Good thing I got TRAVEL INSURANCE
5. Guard your Valuables. My phone was stolen in South Korea. 😭
6. Keep an Electronic Copy of Itinerary for Quick Access
7. Don't have an Overambitious Itinerary. It's better to hit a few spots and savor them, then race from stop to stop, bone tired.
8. Don't Rely Totally on Guidebooks. They are here to inform you, not dictate you. Instead, interact with others and your destination more.
9. BACK UP PHOTOS! There's an extremely high chance that something will get lost/stolen on a trip, which could mean the loss of many memories. I suggest the Google Photos app (free) for unlimited free storage in Google Drive. Thanks, Google!
10. Have Fun! No, just kidding.
10. Keep Important Documents Safe, or Make Copies. Don't wanna lose your passport!
Thanks!

Eiffel Tower Travel Tips, Tricks, and Hacks with Alex Pt. 1
Hi!
I recently started planning for my Paris trip and thought I'd share some of the stuff I learned with you guys!
1. Taking the Metro? Get out at the Trocadero stop, which has a far better view of the Eiffel Tower, than the Bir-Hakeim, despite what most say.
2. Watch the news for important information- weather, terrorist attacks, etc.
3. Take the stairs! Don't wait 2 hours for an elevator. Besides, the stairs allow you to take your time and enjor your view. And also burn off fat you gained from gorging on croissants!
4. Take a video of the entire tower, whether you take the elevator or the stairs. I recommend getting a strap on camera like a GoPro. The camera will capture everything, so you won't miss out.
5. Download a 360 degree Camera App, even if you don't have a VR set. They can be viewed directly on your phone and shared with everyone. I reccomend Google's Cardboard Camera. (Free)
Ok!
That's it for now!

Great Wall of China Tips and Tricks Pt. 1
Hi!
This summer, I went to the Great Wall, and thought I'd post a couple of tips and tricks!
1. Wear sunglasses and a hat for travels from late spring to late fall. Also, makes sure to wear light comfortable clothing, like Underarmour type clothes.
2. Wear comfortable sneakers, with good grips. Throughout the Great Wall, there are numerous fallen-in places that you have to climb over. It's a good idea to crawl slowly over these places.
3. Avoid weeks with any rainy days, even if that day doesn't predict rain. The Great Wall gets very slippery and dangerous when wet because of the slopes and stairs.
4. On the cable car up to the wall, try to get the one that Michelle Obama sat in! There will be blue letters on the window of the car she rode in. I got to sit in the one that the British PM sat in and it made for a great photo! *Only Badaling and Mutianying have cable cars*
Ok!
That's Pt. 1 for the Great Wall!

Reminds me of the lines of doors from Monsters Inc. |
5. Bring 3 bottles of water for each person. There is nowhere else to get water. Also, don't bring dry snacks as they will dry out your mouth quickly. i.e. Goldfish, Sandwiches

How to Survive Your Trip to the Golden Gate Bridge with Alex Pt. 1
Hi!
Here are the top 5 tips for surviving your trip!
1. Bring sunglasses, googles, or some type of eyewear. Up on the Bridge, winds are extremely high and the large gusts blowing in your face don't make it a very pleasing experience.
2. Don't underestimate the weather. Because of the heavy winds, you should subtract 5 degrees Fahrenheit from the weather forecast.
3. If you have kids, plan out how far you will go. This can be based on age, mentality, etc. Some children, and even adults, can be frightened by the speeding cars rushing by. If you want to go the whole length, just take a taxi or ferry back from the other side.
4. Hold on to your belongings and cameras- especially when taking pictures ! I saw a couple lose their phone to a particularly nasty gust of wind when they were taking selfies.
5. Use the bathroom before going on the bridge. There are no rest stops along the way. MAKE SURE that your kids go too, regardless of what they say.
Ok!

Hi!
In a few days, I'll be going to sunny San Diego!
I'm going to stop by Seaworld and Legoland, catch some rays at the beach, and possibly visit Universal Studios.
I was wondering if you guys had any questions about attractions in SD, or suggestions for me to visit and review.
Thanks!

Disneyland Trip Hacks+Tips - for families with young children
Hi!
I recently went to Disneyland and decided to make a post about surviving Disneyland for families.
Enjoy!
1. Bring Diapers, Bottles, Pacifiers, Change of Clothes, First Aid, etc. It's best to always be prepared for any situation.
2. Bring a bag you can easily carry and access at all times.
3. Keep valuables hidden or in a place where you can easily get at it. With huge crowds at Disneyland, its easy for a pickpocket to sweep by and swipe your phone.
4. If you're going to get souvenirs, get them right before you leave. Otherwise, you'll be stuck lugging them around for the entire day.
5. Bring lots of snacks to munch on while in line.
6. Bring refillable bottles. No one wants to pay five bucks for a cup of water. It happened to me before. Moving on!
7. Bring sunscreen!
8. Bring a stroller. After 30 minutes, your kids' legs will be bone tired and they'll refuse to budge an inch.
9. Plan a route on a map to save as much walking time as possible.
10. Lastly and most importantly, make sure your kids know what to do if they get lost. Tell them to find the nearest employee, woman with children, etc. If you want, there are many tracking devices out there that you can get in case your kids run off.
Thank you for reading!
Stay tuned for more Travel Hacks!

Seoul Travel Tips Pt. 2 w/ Alex
Hi!
Welcome back to TurbulenceandTokyo!
This is Part 2 of Seoul Travel Tips.
1. Visit the DMZ, Demilitarized Zone and peek into North Korea. But watch out for nukes. And don't cross the line. Don't.
2. If you're meeting Korean friends, or locals, make sure to know the names of the popular K-pop groups. Girls Generation, EXO, etc.
3. DO NOT stay up binge watching Korean dramas. I learned this one the hard way. One you start, you really can't stop!
4. Download the Seoul Metro app, in case you need to take the subway. This was extremely useful as I didn't have data in SK.
5. Bring an adapter unless you live in Europe or Asia. SK uses a 220V power outlet and the plug needs two round pins. ("europlug")
Thank you so much for visiting my blog today and have a great time in Seoul.
I'll probably make a follow-up so bookmark my blog!
PS: if you want to request a travel guide, just fire me an email at - byteofcherrypi@gmail.com -

Seoul Travel Tips
Hi and welcome back to my blog!
I recently went to Seoul and had a great time.
Here are some Seoul travel tips for you!
1. Check out Myeongdong market! It's the Korean version of Fifth Avenue. Littered with hordes of Korean beauty stores, Myeongdong is an essential part of any trip.
2. Download Google Translate and download the Korean offline mode which lets you user it without an internet connection. This was extremely useful during my stay in Seoul.
3. If you going from late November to early April, make sure to bring heavy clothing. Additionally, hand warmers would be a good investment. (I forgot these and my hands were freezing icicles until a kind tour guide took pity on me and lent me one)
4. Eat authentic Korean barbecue. Try the Galbi and Bibimbap. I've had Korean cuisine in my neighborhood, but it's nowhere as good as the real thing. Get it from the source.
5. Stay away from street food because you don't know how they are preparing the food.
6. Visit the Presidential Palace.
7. Go watch some K-pop!
That's it for now!
Thanks for reading.
Stay tuned for Pt. 2 and check out my other post for "Best Souvenirs from Seoul"
